Envisaging the opportunity of the development of tourism related activities and enabling local people to get livelihood from the tourism related activities in the ravine area (beehad) of Bhind which can be developed with joint efforts of the stakeholders and district administration a tourism promoting council named 'Chambal Tourism Promotion Council' (CTPC) is formed and registered under cooperative societies act 1960 in district Bhind involving all stakeholders for the development of ravine area and creating supportive environment for tourist influx in the Beehad area by developing essential infrastructure and linkage by coordination & convergence of various government departments schemes , private partners and local people participation for enabling local people & youth to secure livelihood of local people from tourism related activities and change the perception of outer world regarding Chambal area and Chambal river which is known for flourishing and nurturing dacoit groups in last decades.
Concept
In conjunction to the "Madhya Pradesh Banao Abhiyan" of Honarable Shri.Shivraj Singh Chouhan Chief Minister of Madya Pradesh & the efforts done by IGP Chambal Zone Shri.S.K.Jha (IPS) in "Chambal Yatra" for exploring the tourism activities in ravine area(Beehad) of Bhind district where there are no other means of livelihood opf people.CTPC solicit the pleasure to acknowledge the Chambal Yatra from the idea of trourism based livelihood came and CTPC is now making efforts to do adventure activities,environment conservation avereness,enabling bhind to come on tourist network,livivelihood development activities in ravine area related to tourism. Tourism not only gives pleasant time to the tourists for releasing there stress from a busy life, pilgrimage and historical trips give mental and educational satisfaction to the tourists but also makes contribution and boost in livelihood of people of the area having tourist destinations as well as in all tourist service providing sectors (accommodation, transport, car rental, travel retail etc.) A large tourist influx is expected in 2010 due to the Commonwealth games being held in country this year. Following the 2010 spike, tourism growth is expected to boon in revival of the Indian economy and hence of the tourism related industry.
Agra, Gwalior are world famous tourist destinations near Bhind district in range of 60-120 KM from these destinations having international flights boarding's and good rail network pumps large number of domestic and foreign tourists every year to Agra and Gwalior which can be attracted to the enchanting activities in Chambal ravine area (Beehad) for water sports in Chambal river spots, air borne sports from ravine hillocks, alligator sanctuary exploration, bird watching in the Ater area.
The Chambal Tourism Promotion Council (CTPC) will be an apex body at district level in Bhind to develop tourist destinations and essential infrastructure for creating supportive environment for development of tourist destinations in Bhind district.
The main objectives of the CTPC are:-
- To fully exploit the tourism potential of the ravine area and eco tourism potential destinations through sustained efforts by coordinating various Government departments, voluntary agencies and others interested in travel and tourism.
- Organizing Adventure sports activities for the for the promotion of tourism.
- tourism promotion activities like marketing of local products through private/public participation.
- improvement of quality/standards and evolving procedure for certification of all tourism products, improvement of signage, sanitation etc by working through the local governments.
- heritage conservation and preservation, coordination of tourism clubs.
- Creation of tourism awareness and preparation of host community, promotion of paying guest scheme.
- Information dissemination and local basic infrastructure projects for tourism promotion in ravine area.
- Air borne sports and water sports activities in ravine hillocks and Chambel river.
- Alligator lifestyle seeing, Chambal safari, Chambal treasure hunt, Bird watching, ecotourism in Bhind district and environment awareness in local people by creating awareness.
- Any other activities deemed suitable for the promotion of tourism in Bhind district.
The CTDC will promote formation of tourist clubs of local people which will be the host for various activities promoted through the council viz. forest JFMC be a tourist club and can organize alligator seeing trips in supervision of CTDC managers. The local stake holders will be organized in form of tourist Clubs(SHG's) for various activities like fishing, banana ride, jobbing ball, valley crossing, paragliding, ballooning by hot air balloon, boating, bird watching etc with hospitality in managerial and facilitating support of the outsourced CTDC authorized agencies/persons.
